Can a Donor Self Certify their Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)?

In simple terms the answer to the question is yes. But there are strict procedures that need to be followed otherwise it can jeopardise the validity of their document.

Often people feel they can create their own document without the need for professional assistance. However, having the document drawn up professionally can avoid many of the mishaps we see. For example, people will often add wording to the document for instructions. Poorly worded documents can again cause the Attorneys serious complications.

We would always recommend you seek professional assistance when drawing up the documents.

If you would like to discuss creating a Lasting Power of Attorney then please give us a call on 01473 487611.
